Parent/Caregiver Training & Behaviour Consultations
Empowering & Educating Families
Raising a child isn't easy, especially in the (often overwhelming) world that we live in today. This service was created to support families where they need it - usually in the home or the community. While some targets and goals may require the additional support of a therapist to work 1:1 with your child or in a small group, other goals can, and should, be facilitated by parents within their home. Training and consultation aims to provide parents/caregivers with the knowledge, training and support that they need to help their children with acquiring new skills and understanding how to support their child when they are experiencing a crisis or difficult time.
Parent training and consultation works to provide you with the tools and support that you need to help your children be the strong, confident, amazing people that they are, and to help you understand and mediate challenging behaviours, while responding to your child in a supportive and compassionate way.
For parents of our current clients, this service may also include training and expanding on the skills that your child is acquiring through ABA services. Some programs have parent training included in their program structure and fees.
If your child is not a current client, you can still access this service. Our Clinical Supervisor, who is a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA), will work with your family to create a plan that will support the individual in achieving their goals, and how to best set up their household for thier success. This consultation differs from those of current clients because our therapists do not work directly with your child, rather the supervisory team works with the family to implement the strategies directly. Packages of sessions are available.
